With 2017 being the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, I wanted to do something to celebrate such a pivotal point in history.

This piece is called “Solas” and it is designed around the general shape of the door of All Saint’s Church in Wittenberg. It is made of layers of laser-cut wood that have been stained and adhered together. It uses initials from my typeface, Schwarzlicht to pull out the first letter of each sola. The back layer features the English translation of each sola laser-engraved into the wood.
