Five Stories of German Fairy Tale and Legend

This book is part of a limited edition run of 10 copies that was digitally printed and hand-bound. I created these books for the purpose of further studying the process of bookbinding as well as testing the stylistic qualities of modern blackletter typography through the two typefaces I have developed: Cathedral Gothic Text and Schwarzlicht. I also experimented with an engraved illustration style.
The historic roots of blackletter spring from German folk communities, so a book celebrating their vibrant stories and legends that is set in a typographic style inspired by their handwriting and culture seems only appropriate.
