About
Rachel Dugan is an artist and designer living in Lynchburg, Virginia. She believes that what we make matters; as artists and makers we have the responsibility to consider the long-term ramifications of our work. Her work is thoughtful, intentional, and detailed, and often contains a theological or philosophical framework.
Her approach makes use of her graphic design background in order to push historic processes in new directions. She has taken courses such as:
- The History of the Book 200-2000 at the Rare Book School in Charlottesville, Va.
- Core Bookbinding Certificate from Virginia Arts of the Book Center
Her work has been shown in galleries and juried shows, she has won awards for her art, research, and graphic design work, and she has given lectures and workshops ranging in topic from screen printing to typography, paper stocks to marketing campaigns.
Outside of her work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Juan, and their crazy dog, Dax.
